Thank you to all for that wonderful gift and the sentiments expressed on the weekend and on the card. As those present would no doubt have gathered, I found it all very emotional…

I actually walked with Herb even before the club was formed. I have never led a walk… and for that you should be eternally grateful. However, 19 years ago I felt I should make some sort of contribution to the running of the club. So I decided to take on the role of Social Secretary.

Over those years there were many successful ( I would like to think) social events. But let’s put things into perspective, all I did was seek out and book appropriate venues. The success of the events was all due to the wonderful people you are – ready to bog in to make it all work, always determined to have a fun time. I did get a great deal of vicarious pleasure watching my friends enjoying themselves, knowing that I was instrumental in their being there in the first place.

The club has been a very important part of my life for a long time and I hope it will continue to be so for a few more years to come.
